Sheaff Vehicles from Mount Maunganui won the honour of SsangYong Dealer of the Year 2014 plus a 10 year Long-Term Service Award at the Great Lake Motor Distributors Dealer Awards on Sunday night.

Last year’s Dealer of the Year – The Car Company from Nelson – won LDV Dealer of the Year 2014, the SsangYong and LDV Service Award and a 10 Year SsangYong Long-Term Service award, taking home the most awards for the night.

Waikato SsangYong, based in Te Rapa Road Hamilton, re-launched a brand new Dealership just over a year ago and their proactive attitude to marketing and consistent sales figures plus an outstanding Fieldays outcome resulted in them winning the SsangYong Sales and Marketing Award for 2014.

Finally Auckland SsangYong won SsangYong and LDV Parts award for the second year in a row. Sharrock Motors based in New Plymouth received a Long-Term Service award also.

Both GLMD brands – LDV and SsangYong - have been in significant growth this year. SsangYong is looking like it will hit 1,900 vehicles sold for the year – a 51% increase from last year making it one of the fastest growing vehicle brands in NZ. It has also been a very busy quarter for the quality Korean brand in NZ with the launch of the very successful SsangYong Racing Series, a fun and affordable grassroots motorsports category during the NZ SuperTourer Rounds.

LDV has also had a huge year with it moving up into 6th place in the Van market. It launched in NZ back in November 2013 and for 2014 it is on track to achieve 400 vehicle sales. Next year will see further developments in the range including the introduction of an automatic transmission and other passenger and cargo van models to complement the existing range, which could see sales double in 2015.

Great Lake Motor Distributors (GLMD), a 100% owned NZ Company, acknowledged the significant contribution from its Dealer Network for 2014 with a special awards ceremony on Sunday night at Castaways on the Wild West Coast, near Waiuku.

GLMD Managing Director Deon Cooper said it has been another huge year for everyone involved and whilst the whole Dealer Network deserves recognition for the significant growth achieved, there have been some outstanding achievements.

“Sheaff Vehicles has seen a huge improvement for 2014 across all areas of their business and we wanted to recognise them for that achievement. The Car Company Nelson are big stars, punching above their weight in all aspects and their three awards were thoroughly deserved. Both of these Dealerships we are 100% proud to have representing our brands.”

Both SsangYong and LDV Dealers of the Year win a pacific holiday of their choice in 2015.

Chairman Rick Cooper also congratulated all Dealers for their input over the past 12 months. “It has been a huge year for SsangYong and LDV and we appreciate the support of our Dealer Network and look forward to seeing what is achievable in the future,” he said.

“We feel we have two fantastic brands that suit the typical kiwi lifestyle and look forward to moving ahead again in 2015”

SsangYong has four models – the Korando (compact SUV) from $27,990, the Rexton 7 seater (large SUV) from $39,990, the Stavic 8 seater (peoplemover/SUV) plus the Actyon (doublecab diesel or petrol ute) from $26,990. In mid 2015, SsangYong NZ will be launching the Tivoli SUV.

The LDV Commercial Vehicle Range now includes diesel cargo vans, passenger vans and a cab and chassis with flat-deck option.
