This weekend will see the official launch of the SsangYong Tivoli on New Zealand Shores – a stylish ‘B’ segment SUV that is turning heads and making waves internationally in this growing segment.
The trendy looking compact SUV, with a design compared to Range Rover Evoke and Mini Countryman, is being introduced with the tagline ILOVIT – Tivoli spelt backwards. SsangYong NZ believe that Kiwi’s will LOV it and with International Tivoli Sales significantly exceeding SsangYong Motor Company’s predictions - annual sales target was achieved in the first quarter of 2015 - it looks like it could be a turning point for the SsangYong brand in NZ.
With benefits such as five star safety, economical petrol engine, dynamic driving features and spacious interior - it is the only model in its class to fit 3 golf bags – make it a perfect option for the typical kiwi lifestyle.
Plus another aspect that will appeal is the price. Currently the Tivoli is available in three model variations – Sport Manual $24,990, Sport Auto $26,990 and the ‘top of the range’ Limited Auto $30,990.
Standard features include ESP, HSA, ABS, dual and curtain airbags, 16 inch alloy wheels with full size spare, air conditioning, cruise control, bluetooth and isofix. The Sport model currently has 7 vibrant colour options.
Additional features of Tivoli Limited include Two Tone Styling (5 colour options), 18 inch alloys, rear spoiler, tinted glass, driving lights, LED daytime running lamps, additional knee airbag, reversing camera and front sensors and 7 inch monitor and media centre with HDMI and split leatherette interior.
A nationwide marketing campaign, including TVCs, radio, newsprint, online and billboard launches Sunday 17th March featuring TIVOLI ILOVIT. Based on international trends and local feedback, SsangYong NZ estimates that within 6 months Tivoli will be in the top 3 in the ‘B’ class SUV segment and within 12 months it could be its biggest selling model.
The SsangYong brand has enjoyed an average of 60% growth year on year since Great Lake Motor Distributors took over the reins back in 2010, with sales increasing from 112 (2010) – 1873 (2014). Managing Director Deon Cooper says its exciting times and the launch of this SUV is a turning point for the Korean Brand.
“This is the first new model we have seen from SsangYong Motor Company in the time we have been the NZ distributor and we bloody rapt with it. It couldn’t have come at a better time for us as we continue to grow our market share in NZ and build brand awareness. Kiwi’s are starting to see the value and quality in this Korean brand.”
