SsangYong NZ brought home gold from the SsangYong Motor Global Distributor Conference last week winning the SsangYong Motor Company Innovative Marketing Award for the second year in a row.

In 2015, SsangYong NZ won the award for the successful launch of the SsangYong Racing Series. This year, the honour was awarded for SsangYong NZs Marketing Launch Campaign for Tivoli - its new B class compact SUV. SsangYong Motor Company’s Global Marketing Manager Diane Lee commented “NZ continues to grow the SsangYong brand at an unbelievable rate.”

“Tivoli has exceeded all expectations and we have been blown away by the market response,” says SsangYong NZ Managing Director Deon Cooper. “Three months in, our market share is 12% and we have overtaken some big brands in the segment. We even topped sales in the ‘B’ Class SUV segment for August.”

The trendy looking compact SUV, with a design compared to Range Rover Evoke and Mini Countryman, has been marketed in NZ with the tagline ILOVIT – Tivoli spelt backwards. Moon Productions, run by Leigh Hart, produced the creative concept for the campaign which included 30 and 15 second TVCs, National Print Advertising, Billboards, Radio and an Online Campaign.

“The styling and practicality of the Tivoli are very appealing – this combined with the competitive pricing has made it a winner for SsangYong NZ,” said Mr Cooper.

With benefits such as five star safety, economical petrol engine, dynamic driving features and spacious interior - it is the only model in its class to fit 3 golf bags – make it a perfect option for the typical kiwi lifestyle. Currently the Tivoli is available in three model variations – Sport Manual $24,990, Sport Auto $26,990 and the ‘top of the range’ Limited Auto $30,990. A diesel option will be available in the future.

Standard features include ESP, HSA, ABS, dual and curtain airbags, 16 inch alloy wheels with full size spare, air conditioning, cruise control, bluetooth and isofix. The Sport model currently has 7 vibrant colour options.

Additional features of Tivoli Limited include Two Tone Styling (5 colour options), 18 inch alloys, rear spoiler, tinted glass, driving lights, LED daytime running lamps, additional knee airbag, reversing camera and front sensors and 7 inch monitor and media centre with HDMI and split leatherette interior.

The SsangYong brand has enjoyed an average of 60% growth year on year since Great Lake Motor Distributors took over the reins back in 2010, with sales increasing from 112 (2010) – 1873 (2014). Over the next 18 months SsangYong Motor Company is releasing several new models.

“If Tivoli is a sign of things to come, we are very excited about the future,” said Mr Cooper. “It couldn’t have come at a better time for us as we continue to grow our market share in NZ and build brand awareness. Kiwis are now recognising the value and quality in this Korean brand.”
